Imagine being the most qualified candidate for a job position but being rejected because of your gender. All around the world women are still fighting to have equal rights. There are still people who believe women should stick to the stereotypical role of the “stay at home” mother. The article titled, “China tech workers wanted: Women need not apply,” was written by Li Yuan. In the passage, she is able to compare and contrast exactly how women are facing gender bias today in the United States and in China.
In Li Yuan’s article she states that, “About 20% of engineers in China’s internet and telecommunications industries are women.” She also writes that, “Women were paid 30% less in China’s internet industry last year…” The injustice women face in China are similar to the situations in Uber Technologies and Alphabet Inc.’s Google.
