Researchers never understood why or how Lewy bodies enter a person’s brain but they do have a little understanding on how they work once they enter the brain. The presence of these Lewy bodies effect important chemical messengers like acetylcholine and dopamine and create a loss of connection between the nerve cells. I looked into his story a little deeper and was pretty shocked and grabbed by what I was reading, hearing, and seeing. I remember the day I heard the news like it was yesterday. It was August 11th of this year when the news broke that Robin Williams took his own life by hanging himself. Apparently Robin Williams was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease last November so it is very possible that once again the symptoms of Lewy body dementia were mistaked with that of Parkinson’s disease.
