ACT 4
SCENE 1
A dimly-lit nightclub, reeking of imported cigarettes and potent alcohol. LEWIS is standing at the overcrowded bar ordering two vodka shots, one for himself and one for CHERRY who should be entering the nightclub any minute.

CHERRY: [tapping Lewis’s shoulder] You finally decide to write back to me huh? How long has it been, like three years right?
LEWIS: [chuckles lightly, while leaning in to hug Cherry] You wouldn't believe the things that have happened in my life in those three years! How are you Cherry? I must admit, it is great to be able to see you again.
CHERRY: Wow Lewis, you really have grown up, although we must go for kebabs after drinks because your stomach is looking

CHERRY: [giggling] So was I good fuck? Better than her? I’m just happy that i got you all to myself before she did. I mean I see myself as Fiordiligi and not like Dorabella, who was a bit of a tart; you know, giving in so easily.
LEWIS: [sighing exhaustedly] What is that supposed to mean Cherry? She’s dead for fuck sakes, show some bloody respect!
CHERRY: [balling up her fists] That slut deserves to be dead, I have looked after you in every single way I could during our play, Cosi fan tutte. We were always meant to be together. Julie never fought to keep men of her pants like most women! I have loved you from the very beginning Lewis, and now you finally love me back.

LEWIS: [opening his front door] I don’t get it with you people. You always disappoint me. I thought we were all the same you know, being humans and all but, I was so wrong. You deserve to stay in the asylum that you got out of for the rest of your life. I don’t love you Cherry, never have and never will. I loved Julie, and that’s why i went all the way to Sydney to find her. I never want to see you again Cherry, please leave.

(37) MY SATURDAY MORNINGS WERE RESERVED for Christina Heal: a devoutly religious woman who might have been older than Jesus Christ himself with a pear shaped body and hazel eyes that once twinkled upon hearing my stories. It was a particularly warm day for fall in New York; so I decided to stroll down to Ms. Heal’s office on Forty-Fourth Street. The sun glistened in the sky and the children playing baseball in the park reminded me of my conversation about baseball books with Holly from the other night at her party.…

As a result of waiting for my marriage to end I was waiting for a hooker, both of which would end up fucking me over. I didn’t see how falling out of love with someone required a financial penalty. Porn, donuts, affairs, you were bastardized for enjoying life’s pleasures. Now here, in the rancid calcium encrusted bar of Motel Exotica, they had a way of making me feel dirty, even though I’d just come from paying my taxes. I leave half an ounce of liquid in my drink so the female bartender won’t talk to me.…

Lately, I’ve found the sound of crashing waves, wind brushing through my hair, and the slight smell of salt hitting my face very soothing ever since I had met my best friend, Percy Jackson.…
