Lewis Carroll Use Persuasive Techniques Used In Alice And Wonderland

Decent Essays
Just as a pilotless plane would travel to an unpredictable and assuredly undesirable destination, a vacuous environment devoid of legitimate direction will produce an unintended objective.

Lack of objectives and strategies don't negate their outcome, they negate their purpose.

Where those strategies would lead, the outcome, and their desirability to its principal becomes yet another story − and a mystery at that.

For example, if one randomly shoots a gun into the air, rest assured the bullet will find its way back to Earth.

Lewis Carroll's infamous quotation in the author of Alice and Wonderland states, “If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there.”

Again, the point he emphasizes makes light of circumstances

Willa Cather once said, “The end is nothing; the road is all.”. This quote means that the end of a journey is not as important as the journey itself. While it may seem that it is talking about traveling on road, the quote itself is metaphoric in that the road and a journey are being compared. Some may argue that this isn’t true, but I agree with the quote. I think Willa Cather’s quote is genuine and meaningful because of my own life experiences.…

I sent it to you because I want you to know what I think of stool-pigeons, “a man doesn’t have to be an informer” (Miller, Brater 60).…

Oh, the Places You’ll Go! Is a great story for children to read. Even if they don’t quite understand the meaning, it’s really about just one thing: The adventures of the future. One of my favorite lines from the book, “On and on you will hike, And I know you’ll hike far and face up to your problems whatever they are,” seems to explain life fairly well.…

Comparative Essay Following your path is a good thing but there are negatives and positives that go along with making your own decisions. In both “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost and “Experience” by Dorothy Livesay the poets use metaphor and point of view to communicate their difficult experiences when dealing with finding their way in life, however Frost and Livesay had two different experiences when dealing with finding their way in life, which is shown in their poems. Both poets used metaphor to express the way they felt and to show how it was when they left, and they used point of view to communicate and describe their experiences and feelings while trying to find their own way. And the difficult experiences that they faced.…

“Curiouser and curiouser!” is the exclamation Alice cries out as she witnesses the absurdities of Wonderland, a magical and frightening, dream world (Carroll 8). It is a statement all readers can certainly agree with as Alice makes her way through a plethora of different, but equally disturbing settings. Her journey begins simply enough at the bank of a river with her sister, when out of the blue, a white, clothed, talking* rabbit hops past her. Alice hastily follows it right into an unreasonably deep rabbit hole, where she plummets for such an extensive period of time, she begins to doze off. “. . .…

The narrative poem, “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost has long been a well-received favorite. This story is based on the idea of things hidden from view. Two roads lie before the poet, but the poet is clueless as to where these roads will lead. In order to convey Frost’s message, “The Road Not Taken” relies heavily on the use of imagery, metaphorical language and metrical devices to bring to life this actual and figurative road. Through the use of these literary devices, the theme is set, and the emotion and mystery are felt.…
