Levi Strauss & Co. was founded in 1869 when Levi Strauss move from Buttenheim, Franconia, (Kingdom of Bavaria) to San Francisco, California to open a branch in New York for commodity trading. Although the company started production of the first jeans in the 1870s, modern jeans have not been produced until the year 1920. The company had a short test time in the 1970s and publish the list of shares listed publicly, but is still owned and controlled by descendants and relatives of four grandson of Levi Strauss. The company employs a staff of approximately 16,000 people worldwide
