Levi: The Best Baseball Player

One night in the Spring of 2013, I was playing little league baseball in Pinetops, NC. The game was close and it was against our archrivals, the Yankees. My team, the Red Sox, were the best team in the league, and we were determined that we weren’t going to lose to our rivals in one of the biggest games of the year. It was a tied ball game, and one of the players on the Yankees named Levi came up to bat. Levi was a tall, strong, extremely cocky, but I will say, he is a really good baseball player. Some people would say that he is too big for his britches. It took him a couple pitches to get used to the pitcher and after that he got a hit and got on base. Once Levi got on base he continued to say that he was amazing and legit. I was playing shortstop and once he got to second base he decided to talk to me and say that we were gonna lose because he was better than everybody else. Levi ended up coming around to home plate and scoring a run for his team and he kept right on talking and showboating. …show more content…
Levi was pitching, and is a really good pitcher. I will admit, Ethan wasn’t the greatest player in the world, but he definitely had one of the biggest hearts on the field. Even though Ethan wasn’t the best player, I still cheered him on from the on-deck circle. After a couple of pitches, somehow, Ethan hit the ball and got on first base. I came up to bat and Levi kept telling Ethan that his hit was nothing but luck. After I heard Levi say that I was extremely mad at him and I felt bad for Ethan, so I took out most of my anger on the ball and hit it over the fence. A home run. I yelled Levi and said, “Was that luck!”, and after I said that, he got pretty

The Chosen, the novel by Chaim Potok follows the lives of two Jewish boys, Danny Malter and Reuven Saunders, set in Brooklyn, New York, during the time of World War II. A common paradoxical theme found in this novel is that through one’s loss there is also one’s gain. A quote from Reuven’s father, David Malter states this paradox perfectly; “No one knows he is fortunate until he becomes unfortunate” (Potok 87). To me this means you don’t realize what you have until it is gone or taken away from you. There are many examples of this found in the novel and also some examples of this I can relate to my own life.…

But I was not always comfortable with playing on a travel baseball team, but I knew this could be a great opportunity for me, so I took a risk and after all it, payed off. I asked “Dad would you think I would be able to compete and play on the travel baseball team” He smiled “Yes, but one thing I learned when I was young and playing baseball is; it is a game of mistakes, and the only way you can succeed is if you practice over and over to improve.”…

In the game of baseball, catching a ball is an everyday thing and is no big deal to most players, but for others, it creates themselves a legacy. In the story Death of the Right Fielder, by Stuart Dybek, the symbol of the ball found in the mitt of the Right Fielder shows that one must do what they love in order to leave a legacy.…
