Why do thousands of people commit part of their lives to protecting our country? Why do they run into the face of danger, risking their lives? Levi Schaffer, military personnel, completed missions involving these types of risks every day for almost three years protecting the lives of millions of Americans. Levi provided freedom and security to millions across Americans making him a true hero. As a soldier in Afghanistan, Levi risked his life every time he was on duty. When Levi Schaffer was just 22 years old he, enlisted into the military to protect our country. Never wanting anyone to be in danger. Schaffer transferred to multiple camps around America, also one located in Germany. Though he completed his training at a camp positioned in New Jersey. Once Schaffer completed training, he was one of the selected few who earned honors for excelling within training. Days following Schaffer was told he had been selected to serve in Afghanistan. There Schaffer decided to visit home one more time before being sent off for six months into one of the harshest places on earth. When home Schaffer was able to stay for three days, long enough to have one more meeting with all his family. Therefore, almost all Schaffer’s family attended to congratulate Schaffer, but still grieving. Lastly Schaffer wanted to check out the farm and complete his usual chores. As no one stopped him, nevertheless everyone enjoyed his last day there and didn’t stop Schaffer from doing what he
