Artists attempt to create great art everyday. However, this is not always accomplished. Some artists experience difficulty deciding what to create. Sometimes art can not be created just from a thought, it needs to be from a feeling and understanding . Great art can be very tricky to create, but empathy and knowledge can make it easier. People might argue that empathy and knowledge are not needed because they may feel that creativity is enough. However, both knowledge and empathy have the power to create art with special meaning. This is known because Smith explains it in Letters to a Young Artist when she wrote, “Well, I believe that fundamental to becoming an artist is understanding the position of an artist, rehearsing that position, and practicing that position.”(Smith 123) and “Empathy is potentially very productive,” (Smith 123). If someone has only knowledge then empathy would be empty making the painting in a way bland.
