Dear Señor Freire,
I’m a student at the University of Washington, Bothell Campus; recently I’ve learned that UWB has limited admittance to the Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (IAS) program. A program that I wish to participate in.
I read that you grew up in poverty, that you worked hard to get the education you hungered for, and that you understand how diversity can be influenced by education. I also read that your method of teaching has been used to teach farm workers how to read and write.
My own background is similar to yours in that I too grew up in poverty and although I had a chance at getting an education when I was younger, I foolishly didn’t take it because I have a learning disability
