I agree with your first point, there is something very special in written communication. It may be slow and impractical for contemporary standards, but it has a charm that technology cannot replicate.
I understand the frustration involved in living in a place where people could not be more different from you , and where apparently no one shares your ideas, values, interests. Although this doesnt mean that I think it's superior to any other art,this is the one I feel its language reveals naturally to me, and where my talent lies in.
