Letter To Puebla

Let me begin by saying that I loved your letter. It was full of beautiful passages, and to this day I still save them in my memory. I know I owe you an explanation, and I'll get to that point later, but first I'd like to tell you my general thoughts and then answer your questions.

I agree with your first point, there is something very special in written communication. It may be slow and impractical for contemporary standards, but it has a charm that technology cannot replicate.

I understand the frustration involved in living in a place where people could not be more different from you , and where apparently no one shares your ideas, values, interests. Puebla is a colonial city , and along with the Spanish conquerors who settled here , many missionaries came . In Mexico we say that there were two conquests , first the military one and then the espiritual one . The historic center of the city, in its small area has more than 200 catholic temples.

Sadly, this realization only came to me about three years ago and personal difficulties that demanded my urgent attention have gotten in the way, so there's a lot I need to learn before I can fulfill my potential.
Patti Smith, who I admire deeeply, stated in an interview that her father believed in the "development of the head (the mind)", her mother in the "development of the heart", and Patti hersefl in the "development of the hands".I think any artistic soul has an innate interest in the first two. It took me a little longer to understand what she meant with the third one. Now I think she meant the develompment of one's skills; which the ancient Greeks called "metis"; and in the case of an artist, the skills that make possible the creation, the materialization of any work of art that can be

When we look at the world today, not all of us enjoy art, not many of us practice it, But no one is surprised when someone comes along from our friends or family who is deemed talented at art. This mindset, this overall acceptance than anyone can go out and learn how to do what they love. It’s a modern phenomena, full of aspiring graphic artists and cartoonists, painters and animators. We see more and more art classes each year, the world seems to want to learn how to do art, because having artistry as a hobby has become commonplace in these times. Identity, Ritual, and Power in Colonial Puebla Public ritual shaped the political culture, as well as the lives of the residents and officials in Puebla. Frances L. Ramos’ Identity, Ritual, and Power in Colonial Puebla illustrates us the importance of these rituals and how they played an integral role in connecting abstract influences within residents and imperial identities. Ritual “helped to reaffirm hierarchy and strengthen people’s affiliations to local corporations, their city, the imperial body politic, and the spiritual body of Christ.” (Ramos, 212) Additionally, as mentioned in the latter quote, the city’s Cabildo (town council) applied ritual to promote a stronger sense of religiosity to the residents of Puebla.…

As Garner addresses artistic development in his writings, he mentions that Picasso had developed artistic skills of expression before he could even verbally communicate with others. In regards to Picasso’s predisposition towards the art making process, however, Garner states that “genetic endowment are, at most, one contributing factor to the eventual level of artistic accomplishment” (Gardner, 1994). I agree with the idea that artistic development is multi-faceted and I feel that Astrid’s artistic development supports this…

Dear Mrs. McCarthy, I am writing this letter to you as I have recently read your fascinating article titled “Being different will only result in tears”, and I would like to respond to it, agreeing and disagreeing with several of your elaborated points. Firstly, Hans Kruuk’s experiment proves herding behaviour is a matter of survival, proven when tested on animals when a prey animal would be marked with an ‘X’, it was killed every time, as “The X was a death warrant”, due to the animal being different. However, the experiment was carried out in the 1970’s; therefore, it is not recent and not developed according to the time. Animals in the wild can also not be compared to human society.…

Parents and teachers have speculated since the emergence of texting if this “new age” communication technology hinders formality and accuracy of academic writing. David Crystal in “Why All the Fuss?” presents a compelling and persuasive argument emphasizing that texting has not negatively influenced academic writing, and that it may also have some benefits to students’ ability to write formally. I agree with Crystal’s emphasis that text language is not used in formal writing and that texting does not interfere with academic writing, but can contribute to writing fluency and skills. In “Why All the Fuss?”, Crystal contends that texting does not encourage the usage of text language in formal writing.…

My thoughts on human nature can best be summed up by the character Sirius Black in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: “We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on, that’s who we really are.” Our ability to critically think about our behavior and make choices is what makes us human and sets us apart from our hominid ancestors. In fact, as far as other species are concerned, there is no concept of “good” and “evil”; there is predator and prey, threatening and safe, dominant and submissive. Morality is not a factor at play in the animal kingdom.…
