Letter To Papla

Dear Alyssa, it feels like just yesterday when every plastic bag that blew past us was a ghost that would make you cling to me. When you believed in the dinosaur on the car roof and the monster knocking on the door when you were naughty. When washing your hair at bath time required me to have a wash cloth and towel ready at all times so you could cover your eyes and dry your face after every rinse. When the “monster” chased us at bedtime, you used to leap into my arms and squeal as I ran up the stairs with you. Or “pappa, I know it’s just you making the noise and not a dinosaur” when I drum my fingers on the car roof or under the table. And when I wanted to rinse your hair you simply told me “pappa, I’ll do it myself I’m a big girl now” before dunking the water over your own head. Even at bedtime, you run ahead and tell me to catch up because I’m too slow. …show more content…
Seeing you grow up so quickly and becoming your own little person makes me incredibly proud, but I also can’t help but feel that time is going by too fast and it won’t be long until my little girl is not so little any

I was jealous all the attention she got for being the new baby in the house. I was even jealous of how lucky she was for having a father that adores her because I grew up without my father. However, after seeing her in her hospital crib, I later realized I missed her annoying little voice. I even missed her touching everything, her wild hair, and most of all her beautiful eyes and contagious smile. A smile that I hadn’t seen in days.…

My transition from business professional to aspiring educational professional began when I left the workforce to become a stay at home mother. As soon as my son started elementary school I became heavily involved in the school PTA. I quickly immersed myself in the many roles available therein; first as a volunteer, then as a grade co-leader, and finally to the presidency. Through my many roles within the PTA, I was exposed to a wide range of experiences within the classroom. Though I had not expected to be drawn to the classroom environment, I found these experiences to be the most rewarding.…
