This institution was created to protect the children. Alternatively, the social workers didn’t report and record their findings accurately. All the signs of abuse and neglect were ignored and there were times when the social workers tried to make excuses for the incidents. The social workers failed to do follow up’s and closed the multiple cases on the family with inaccurate dictations. With this in mind, there could have been more education and training for these workers to handle the cases in an appropriate manner.…

The author, Paul Tough, takes it upon himself to write about what has and has not worked educationally for students in How Children Succeed. I think the two essays that are most critical for students to read is “This I Believe” by Jennifer in New York and “This I Believe” by Elizabeth in California. They both have the same title and are similar at the same time. “This I Believe” by Jennifer talks about how people should treat others the way they would want to be treated. This is very important in life. You should never treat someone worse than you would expect them to treat you.…

Growing up is hard. But you can keep fighting through it. Growing up means that life can be difficult, so you need to push through, some people won’t be in your life, so you must learn for yourself, and you become further from you parents so it will be hard. To begin with, growing up can mean life can be difficult, but you must push through. The metaphorical poem “Mother to Son”, by Langston Hughes (1902-1967), demonstrates this.…

For most students, the transition from middle school to high school is the evolution from childhood to adulthood. In my case, my middle school graduation was a quick transition for another reason. The first few months of my freshman year had my parents rushing my grandfather in and out of the hospital because of his failing heart. By this point my grandfather had battled off colon cancer, 3 heart attacks, and 2 open heart surgeries. At age 74 he was not a candidate for a heart transplant but he was able to get a defibrillator.…

The most logical solution to help with the problem of kids dropping out is to find someway to encourage the kids and provide them a positive atmosphere where they can be influenced to learn. Each person mentioned in this video shared the common problem of the lack of parents or guidance. Kids are greatly influenced by the people around them, specifically their role models, parents, teachers, and other adults in their lives. If the students who are struggling with finding the motivation to do well in school have a stable environment with positive influences, they would most likely find an interest and desire to go to school. However, if the kids are continuing to come home to an unstable environment with little to no positive parental guidance, they will not be able to go on a positive path to success.…
