I am writing this letter on behalf of Jonathan Phua who is applying to your program. I have had the pleasure of working with Jonathan in our medical office for about 6 months. We are a fairly busy suburban pediatric practice caring for infants, children and teenagers. He came to work with us from a completely unrelated career as a graphic designer. From the very first day with us, he struck me as very different from all the other young men and women who have worked or currently work here. It is my pleasure to write this letter and express my sincere interest in a Family Nurse Practitioner program at TSU Division of Nursing. My nursing journey began in early childhood and was greatly influenced by my family. Both of my parents are in medical field, and taking care of patients was always an ordinary topic in the house. Nursing was a very natural choice for me as it was what I was interested in, and what I understood the most.…

I am writing this letter of Recommendation for Megan Dorsey, whom I have known for 12 years. She is an extremely worthy candidate to be accepted into your Graduate level program. I have seen first hand how she has developed into the self motivated and confident young woman she is today through my friendship with her and her family. One of Megan's many positive attributes is her willingness to take on any task, no matter the degree of difficulty, in a heads on, full forward approach toward her goal. If she encounters road blocks, she looks for ways to find an alternate path that will help her reach her goal.…

The political philosopher Isaiah Berlin classified thinkers into two general types: hedgehogs, who perceive the world through a single ideological lens, and foxes, who derive understanding from diverse experiences and ideas. Joseph Parent’s book, Uniting States: Voluntary Union in World Politics, suggests that he is a paradigmatic hedgehog. Starting with his acknowledgement of influence from Realist luminaries including Robert Art, James Fearon, Robert Jervis, John Mearsheimer, Steve Walt, and Ken Waltz, Parent provides his first clue to the type of explanatory analysis he will undertake. The first paragraph in Chapter 1 then implies that security and military action causes political outcomes, which makes clear Parent’s Realist perspective that views unification as a predominantly threat-driven process.…

Dear Fùmǔ (Parents), I am very sorry it has taken me so many years to write back to you after coming to Tan Heung Shan (Hawaii). I miss you both very much, it has been a great burden not to see or hear from my dear family in Kwangtung for so long. In some ways Tan Heung Shan reminds me of our homeland along the Pearl River Delta, the climate and geography are not so different. Many other Chinese have come here from Kwangtung, so it is not as strange to live here as you might think. Having now finally completed my obligations under my contract and saved a small sum of money, I plan to start up a noodle shop in Honolulu.…
