Nice post Stephanie. I liked how John Piper said the goal of the “Church” is worship. For some reason my mind was stuck on my purpose when I read that part of the book and it took me a while to figure it out. For World Christians, I loved how Hawthorne related when we focus our lives on God’s purpose “it’s about discipleship.” (Hawthorne, Ch. 15) Although our ultimate purpose is to glorify God, we are probably most effective when we reach the point of discipleship.
I felt like Hawthorne expressed the Word in a commissioning way. I was very energized as I read Psalms 110. “Your people shall be volunteers In the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth.” (Psalm 110:3, NKJV)
