This letter goes out to the government of Hawaii. I say to all you officials, “Please help our state as we face many hardships during this great trauma.” Lately, I have not been able to call my home a paradise where I once lived in, rather now I find it a death sentence. This disease we live in today affects our people, and cuts our states population into half. I feel the need to step up and become the representative for my people. I no longer wish to see my people die from such diseases. I do not want to live a hopeless life, but I rather die early and make a change. Just last week, our food supplies have been rapidly decreased, and I witnessed the death of my mother. I mourned for my mother and grew hatred for this disease. The last words …show more content…
Officials of Hawaii, I am sending you this message from L Quadrant, located in the outskirts of Kapolei, hoping to reach inside your souls to help me stop this cancer. I can be very beneficial to your registered scientist since I have a wide knowledge about the disease. I know for a fact that this disease is spread through air. After my mother’s death, I took the risk of going outside to collect the bacteria from the air. You do not have to worry; I wore a concealed life suit so that the flesh would have not contracted the air. I analyzed all the bacteria and found that the vast amounts of bacteria can be stopped by eating our state bird, the Nene. The way I found this out was by testing several infected mice. I felt that if this diseased came from Hawaii, that the disease could be stopped by something Hawaiian. It sounds crazy, but you have to believe me. After hours of analyzing the D.N.A, and testing the subject various mice, the Nene seemed to cure all of them. I realized that it spreads through the air, so I came up with the idea of grinding the Nene into a liquid form and using it as a spray. The only thing that hinders us is the fact that these birds are going

Waipio Valley has many wild horses down there; there are many different breeds. The palominos are the hardest horses to ride. The dark caramel looking horses are not that bad to ride but the pintos can be a rough ones too. I always wanted to know if Waipio will have an adoption day and have people come and adopt these horses. The horses just stay in waipio and ruin the kalo patches (Kulia) and they are just a waste because hardly no one rides these horses.…

The camp you will be staying at is off the coast of Southern California and is on the North Western side of Catalina. It is 22 miles from Los Angeles which is where you board the ship that takes you to Catalina. When you are outside (or sometimes even when you are inside), the temperature is normally really warm and sometimes humid so I would suggest bringing and applying sunscreen in the morning and after every meal. Some of the native plants are eucalyptus trees, pine trees, moss, and cherry trees. The cherries that are on Catalina Island are different than what we are used to.…

Adrenaline rushed through my tensed body as though I inched toward the edge of a cliff ready to jump off. Governor Hutchinson just rejected our plea to send the Dartmouth back to England, and everyone in Boston couldn’t take much more of England’s petty games of taxation and their seemingly unlimited power over the colonies. Once the governor’s answer came to everyone at the Old South Meetinghouse, I think we all felt something needed to be done to send a message to England that we had enough (Brooks). Being a part of the Sons of Liberty, I knew a plan was being devised no matter the outcome of the Dartmouth situation. We could hear the Dartmouth bellow while coming in to dock, and far off in the distance could be heard the Beaver and the Eleanor.…

The United States won control over Puerto Rico in 1898 after the Spanish-American War was over, Spain had surrendered the remainder of its overseas colonial empire to the United States. Even though Puerto Ricans were not considered citizens of the United States till 1917 with the Jones Act some say that “Puerto Ricans have been ‘born in the U.S.A’ since 1898.” (Nieto, 515) Once the United States had control over Puerto Rico, they had to decide the relationship with them and in 1952 they establish the status as a commonwealth. Puerto Rico gained its own Constitution and although they can organize their local government how they want to, Congress power over the U.S territory did not change or decreased. Once this relationship was established…

They would exploit these lands in order to gain power and make economic advances. Some examples of colonization that are often thought of are the Spanish conquest of Southern America, British occupation in India, and Belgium 's control of the Congo. The United States is not above these economic and political strategies.…

In this Anthropology class, most if not all of the societies that we look at and investigate have some form of evidence that shows the emergence of social complexity and complex structure like states or civilizations. The article of Norman Yoffee states, “All human societies develop along a universal "evolutionary" trajectory from small and egalitarian to large and socially complex”. I believe that this statement is inaccurate, all societies that have come to existence have not all developed on a universal trajectory (small to large). I believe that there are many different evolutionary possibilities in societies. In Norman Yoffee’s article, page 72 figure 6.6 shows a more accurate trajectory of evolution in social complexity where there…

Right now the U.S is facing a large, multi-state measles outbreak connected to an amusement park in California (CDC-measles, 2015). As the saying goes, “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink.” The point in case is that we can identify a bacterial species, prescribe AND explain an effective treatment, but it is ultimately up to us to properly use that treatment not only for ourselves, but in the consideration of others as well. As microbiologists, we start with a source and use our knowledge of pathogens to piece together the individual parts in order to form a cohesive puzzle to keep the world a safer and healthier…
