Letter To Georgetown Law School Admissions Council

Dear Georgetown Law School Admissions Council,

Thank you for deferring my decision to regular decision. Georgetown University has always been my dream school for as long as I can remember, and I am beyond grateful the continued consideration.

Due to low SAT scores, I attended the University of Delaware after high school. While at Delaware, I worked extremely hard to maintain a 3.96 GPA so I could attempt to transfer to Georgetown University. Once again, my scores were still a huge barrier and I was unfortunately not accepted. I transferred to another Jesuit university, Boston College. I love my school and I believe it has prepared me to be successful in any career path I choose. Even though I love my school, I have not given up on my dream

Becoming a nurse was not something I always knew I wanted to do. I knew that I wanted to have a career in the medical field due to the opportunity for innovations in health care and the challenges for improvement. It was not until my mother’s struggle with breast cancer that becoming a nurse became my mission. As a young child at my mom's bedside, I would watch her nurses as they took care of her. To me, they were pillars of compassion, strength, and advocacy that inspired me to pursue nursing.…

Personal Statement Almost everyone had a rod in hand as they walked through the main street headed for the pier or docks to try and reel in a tasty morsel for dinner. In my small fishing village surrounded by serene mountains and lush waters, I grew up distant from many of life’s amenities and creature comforts. Surrounded by family and relatives, I lived in a capsule of love. Little did I know that in several years, I would be on a plane bound for the United States, uncertain about my future but resolve in my dreams.…

I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to review my letter of appeal. The sole purpose of this letter is to highlight the reasons behind my poor average this past academic year and the steps I am taking to make sure my average will be well above 60. Towards the end of October my grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer and became seriously ill as her body could not handle the chemotherapy. Over the next few months it worsened and she eventually passed away in February. Not being able to be there for my family during this unfortunate time period and imagining what both my parents, who work full time were going through made me even more stressed and depressed.…
