Letter To Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus writes letters about his voyages between 1492 and 1505 at sea to Jamaica. The first voyage that Columbus went on he described the many islands filled with people. Christopher named each island San Salvador, Isla de Santa María de Concepción, Fernandina, Isabella, Isla Juana. Despite the weather Columbus traveled three days and found an infinity of small hamlets and numerous people, but nothing important on the journey. So he went to another island he named Espanola and realized that the island was marvelous in so many ways (1493). The fourth voyage he wrote to the most Christian, King, and Queens of Spain, our sovereigns, in which he notified them of that which had occurred on his voyage, of marvellous things, and where there was great richness and value. It relates to a part of history that discusses different discoveries that man have made. The Atlantic Slave Trade, voyages that spain took, and etc is an example of different voyages. These different discoveries relate to the reading because it is just like the voyages that Columbus took. This story connects and somewhat leads up to other events in history.

The theme of these two letters, “From Letter to Luis de Santangel Regarding the First Voyage” and “From Letter to Ferdinand and Isabella Regarding the Fourth Voyage” could be a variety of things. The theme could be the voyage around the world, the letter of many voyages, and etc. “I write this to you, from which you will learn how in thirty-three days, I passed from the Canary Islands to the Indies with fleet which the most illustrious king and queen our sovereigns gave to me.” Questions: What was the point in him traveling on the voyage?
