Letter To Brandi Letters

Dear Brandi, do you remember when you were sitting at work one day listening to Kristy tell you all about how she is attending Bethel University online, and loved it? Do you remember how she told you she only had one class to focus on, that lasted five weeks, or how she only had to turn in an assignment every Sunday and Wednesday night? It seemed so doable to you, and you knew that sounded like the absolute best option for you to improve your life, and not end up being stuck as a debt collector forever. Clearly you were right. You’re now starting on the last week of your first class, and you’ve done great so far!
Even when it seemed a little overwhelming, you got your head in the game, and got it done! Like when you, Jay, and Braelynn went to Tunica for your anniversary, and once you got there you realized the hotel didn’t have wi-fi and your assignment was due that night, or when you had to re-read one of the unit’s READ sections ten times before you retained anything. I won’t be naive and say that won’t happen again, but hopefully in the future the classes will be slightly more interesting, and can hold your attention a bit better.

When a situation is thrown at you like not having wi-fi again, get up and drive to McDonald’s! If something just isn’t sinking in, no matter how many times you read it… read it again, or get on Smarthinking and try getting help from a tutor. As long as you continue to attack any obstacles, head-on and with a positive attitude, it will pay off. Your education is something no one can ever take away from you, and when you receive your diploma, you will have such a sense of pride, just knowing that you finally did it! You’ll be able to better your daughter’s life, as well as your whole

As a single mother of two, I have had to hold tight to any of the income that I am able to earn in order to properly care for my children. With that being said, the thought of paying for a four year college has been daunting. Luckily, I have found that Burlington County College and its partnership with Wilmington University have provided me the opportunity to continue on my path of providing a better future for my family without breaking the bank. As a result of this partnership, I can take two courses a semester for at least $1000 less then I would have to pay for the same two courses at a…

In addition to enjoying my time of school, during the first few weeks of summer vacation the summer assignments were sent in along with the names of what teachers and classes you will have. At first I was thinking to myself, who are these teachers and what do they teach in the class called Inquiry Skills. I thought it was a class that was kind of like psychology but in a more basic level ( boy was I wrong.) All things considered, my first obstacle came when I saw the quantity of work I had to accomplish in other to prepare myself for the upcoming school year. Writing an essay on the book named Anthem for English was unbearable for the fact I never understood the book, answering a multitude of questions for the Greek story called the Iliad was…

Today, June 18th, 2017, marks the last day of my first week of college at Paul Quinn College and I am proud to say, “I survived”. Committing to Paul Quinn was a really big decision for me because this school is a 17 hour drive away from my home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. I was afraid that I might get homesick or that I would not have the support of my family because I would be so far away from home. Soon, after visiting the Dallas campus, I realized that Paul Quinn was the school for me. This is the school where I will grow as an individual and I have come to that realization in my first week of college through the many conversations with upperclassmen, faculty, alumni and summer bridge students.…

Today, I am working on my fifth semester at Lone Star–Tomball; I am a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa, and a founding officer of I Will Teach Tomorrow, Lone Star-Tomball’s new future teachers club. A part of me is in awe of myself and what I have been able to accomplish. Two years ago, I found myself stuck in quite a rut, considering defeat and the ultimate acceptance of my situation. Life is much different today; I am confident, focused, enthusiastic, and passionate.…

How someone's very presence could grate on my nerves like a constant hum of a lopsided metal fan was beyond me. But that's exactly what Alder Quinn's very existence was, an annoyance. No matter what was happening, you could always be assured of one thing; he was doodling absentmindedly in class instead of paying attention. How he got away with it was beyond me. I wouldn't have minded it if it wasn't for the fact that the class was…

It is absolutely AMAZING to think that we are past the halfway mark already. Time has flown, in a good way. That just means we are even closer to accomplishing our educational goals. A week before this fall semester started, I was having a nervous breakdown. During this time I was already enroll in classes at ASU, full time and all online. In order to understand my dilemma, let it first be established that it is my personal belief that anything lower than a grade of B is unacceptable, and that is already a worst case scenario. Going full time every semester will be more difficult, but more beneficial than enrolling in anything less, because tuition stop at 7 credits, not including class fee per ASU policy. Since online classes are fairly new to me, enrolling full time at a university may just be pushing it.…

    Personal Mini Exercises

For my second personal mini experiment, I chose an exercise from chapter ten that is labeled “Searching for Absorption: Finding Flow in Your School Day.” I chose this personal mini experiment because, with all the technology that is readily available and open for us to use it can be quite difficult finding time to actually sit down to do homework without interruptions. The experiment consists of taking a break from all screen time for two days so, this means no television, and no Internet surfing or instant messaging is allowed during this time period. Day one consisted of me placing my phone on mute and do not disturb mode, only allowing emergency calls or repeated calls from family members through. Secondly, I gathered up all of my due homework and made a list organizing my top priorities, I also put into consideration what tasks would require the use of a computer and I put an estimation of the amount of time I should spend on the internet for these specified tasks.…

The idea of a perfect school has always been a thought, but it’s never been executed. However, with that being said, I don’t think anybody has ever seen Columbia City High School as a perfect school, and they never will see it as a perfect school. With a few changes, the perception of Columbia City High School could be slightly better than it currently is. Columbia City High School’s routine day for some students includes extensive classes, incomplete homework assignments, repulsive lunches, and irrelevant―yet required―classes; consequently, students aren’t receiving the maximum benefits from attending school that they could. This can be improved by slight tweaks to the schedule, revamped lunches, and a variety of class selections.…

Final Exam Self Reflection We have a read a few books this year and I have had very different opinions and interpretations on all of them. While there are instances where annotations can be helpful, such as the arduously worded novel, The Odyssey, I find that annotations take away from being able to enjoy the book for its content. I am one to have trouble analyzing the content when I focus more on the annotations I am taking.…

This semester has been a very difficult, stressful, and challenging for me . High School can not compare the amount of stress I had to face in this fall semester at Hostos Community College. However, it is like that with many other students because making a transition is frightening and many of us find a way to run away from it. Everything in life is a challenge and it is scary as well, but for those who want to study it all starts of with college. It took me more than words to actually realize the reality that I am actually living right at this very moment because, I was not expecting so many things to fall apart, but somehow becoming whole again.…
