As a healthcare compliance professional, my background and experience in working with providers and the community has provided me with invaluable insight on how important it is to develop clear communication tools between provider’s and the community to ensure better patient outcomes. My community service experience includes over a decade of involvement in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Anyone requiring access to any restricted area had to display the proper credentials prior to gaining access. During random points in our shift we were directed to conduct checks to ensure only authorized personnel gained access to these areas. After conducting checks for thirty minutes, my partner and I headed over to Security 33’s post.…

I will be the type of provider that takes care of my patient’s physical and social needs by recognizing their social and psychology needs and make the appropriate referrals. Additionally, in order to further contribute to the mission of the program I want to advocate for future healthcare providers to practice in impoverished communities. Studies have shown that a majority of health care professionals currently in school may not have been exposed to community health or have had negative experiences. Through volunteer programs I want to educate future health providers about underserved populations that will hopefully result in future providers choosing to work in an underserved area during their career. The purpose of this program to support the mission to improve health and achieve health equity through access to quality services, a skilled health workforce, and innovative programs.…

The United States has a health problem: Nearly 70% of American adults are overweight or obese and half of all adults in the US have one or more chronic health conditions. The US invests more of our GDP on healthcare than any other country and is disproportionately ranked 37th by the World Health Organization compared to other national health care systems. How can we solve our problem and improve health in the US? Family practice and primary care physicians are the key to reversing these trends in health rather than specialists; only in primary care do physicians hold the responsibility of preventing disease and promoting health over the lifetime of patients. My interest in primary care is motivated by a passion for preventative medical education,…

Reflection On Professional Organizations I have been conducting research on some professional organizations and I have determined that ASHP would be a good match for me. This is because ASHP is an organization that is heavily involved in advocating legislation to benefit pharmacists, patients, and the health care system. Some of the most important issues to me are getting the pharmacist more involved in a patient’s health care and to make health care in general more efficient. ASHP is attempting to accomplish these tasks by actively advocating legislation to meet their goals.…
