“Dad I found him!” I yell as I scoop my cat into my arms and carry him to my house. Even though Julian is an indoor cat he will steal any opportunity available to get outside. As I set Julian down inside I notice there is something on his ear. The blood drains from my face when I realize it’s a scratch. Being only eight years old at the time, I was distraught that my cat had been injured. I grab Julian again and rush to the bathroom where we keep the hydrogen peroxide and Neosporin. I gently set Julian down on the counter and apply the hydrogen peroxide not knowing that cleaning a scratch on an animal is not the same as cleaning a human scratch. Veterinary school became my dream when we took Julian to the vet and the doctor let me hold his fur while she gave him a shot. If there was any room for doubt before, it had been abolished. Going into high school, I fully planned to utilize my education to expand my passion for working with animals. To my dismay, no high schools offered an introductory class for veterinary school so I settled for a biology class. Biology class soon became my absolute favorite subject. Everything concept we learned about interest me and fed my growing passion for science. Though many girls complained about the memorization involved, my appetite for a more hands on experience grew. During my junior year, I deviated from the traditional path of taking physics to a class more suited for my particular interest in science. Human body systems was my wake up call. I realized that I was far more passionate about systems that were my own. For an elective, this class had more work and assessments than other electives at my school which caused many of
