Letter Grading System: Helpful or Harmful?
There have been many controversies on whether the letter grading system (A, B, C, D, or F) is harmful for students and our society rather than helpful. Some people believe it takes away from the enjoyment of learning in school and that students become too worried about getting a grade rather than actually learning what is being taught. Many others believe the grading system to be quite helpful to students, allowing them develop responsibility, become organized, and to work in a timely manner as well as develop a motivation to excel in their academics. A letter grade can go a long way in being helpful as it is not only a way to motivate students to excel in their academics, but is also a benefactor in job opportunities as well as being a useful measuring tool for university systems and their teaching staff.

The fact of the matter is that grades don’t cause cheating and never will, people either allow their mind set to be altered to cheat or are usually pressured by others to cheat. Grades have no physical control of whether students cheat or not, this argument is always viewed as an excuse rather than a legitimate opposing reason. Plenty of individuals have become successful and maintain above average grades without cheating, and instead put in hard work and effort to get where they need to be. People are imperfect and always need something else to lay the blame on for their actions and in this case a grading system is at fault for a human’s choice to cheat. It just doesn’t suffice as a valid reason to say grades are
