Diversity still faces challenges in today’s workforce. Even though the situation is not as bad as it was in the past, there are still issues with diversity and inclusiveness in many industries. Writer Meghan M. Biro talks about some of the most common issues in diversity in the tech industry in her article titled “Let’s be honest about diversity: Age matters too”. Make sure all leaders, managers, and employees understand what diversity is and its importance. Furthermore, diversity problems need to be identified and evaluated. The managers need to know what potential conflicts can arise from these problems.
There are many companies with older employees, but they are not included in most decision making processes and new projects. Managers should always include all employees and listen to all of their inputs and ideas. No worker should take advantage of their age. Experience, dedication, and creativity re some of the main traits that should always be taken into consideration instead of age.
In order to enhance the work environment managers, need to practice a judgement and discrimination free environment starting with their own actions. They need to ensure they do not show any preference to younger employees. In addition, they should welcome older worker’s ideas, even if they are not as innovative as the rest. There might be details of the idea that can be incorporated in other idea or project.

The date of birth should be removed from the application forms. Skills, ability, and maybe job experience should be the base of the hiring decisions. These helps exclude any prejudice or stereotype from the hiring process.
