“Let Me Hear Your Voice” is written by Catherine Maurice, who is also the main character in the novel. Maurice’s two children were autistic, and Maurice was looking for guidance. She asked an experienced therapist named Bridget to help her children make progress. With an intense behavioral therapy called Applied Behavioral Analysis, Bridget taught Catherine’s children how to make sense of the world. They went on to lead wonderful, fulfilling, and neurotypical lives-- without a trace of autism in their minds or hearts.

My parents noticed a change in my behavior when I was very young. I had went from from a playful, giggly child,to a child my parents were not able to recognize.I would be perfectly content one minute, and throw my food and shriek the next. Often, when the doorbell would ring, I would crawl in the corner of my living room, cover my ears, and screamed at the top of my lungs until the visitor was gone. Most people believed the scariest thing they would have to witness that day would be kids in creepy costumes, ringing doorbells and asking for candy. However, my parents went through a night that was much worse.
