In the poem “ Let America Be America Again” by Langston Hughes talks about how the vision of why America was build in the first place is now slowly fading or if not gone already. The idea Hughe brings up about not being the America dream that people pursuit in this country, is far much more than a fading dream. This feeling when reading this poem makes you wonder, do people matter in America? All the stereotypes he describe and racist that happens in America makes us wonder is this what this country has the best to offer us. America was not build for him he continues to say leading us readers why does he say all this. It seems impossible to look at everyone the same without anyone being judged because of their skin color. Throughout history there’s always a certain standard that everyone should live by and because of these standards, this why people get judge. Standards such as the benefits of being white, the idea people should be able to afford certain things like cable, tv, or even a house with 3 bedrooms. Is this really the American Dream that everyone so eagerly desire because if it is, I don 't think many want to be part of this nightmare. I quote “I 'm not an American. You 're not an American. You are one of twenty-two million Black people who are the victims of America.” (Malcolm X). This quote helps me understand what he is talking about. This idea people don 't see us as an American, how we were actually brought by force to build this country for 400 years. We are the victims of this crime of colonialism and then people the got the audacity to judge us because of our history and skin. We never had a choice, it was life or death. Force to live in someone else 's home, force to work for the man , and you can not say we were consider human. American Dream did not apply for everyone. They only care whos available to work for my company instead of being concerned how to pay their workers. This minimum wage is an abomination, a super power company to be paying 9 or 10 dollars an hour in which in an middle class or lower means nothing at all comprare how much is bills.
