The twenty-first century is a wonderful time to be alive—we have advanced technology, amazing new inventions, and wonderful opportunities for life. But, is it truly a great time for everyone to be alive? We may live in a thriving society full of potential, but the gritty and down-right disgusting fact is we still live in a racist world that discriminates every and anything, at every and any chance. It seems that there is always someone of a different ethnicity, of a different religion, or of a different sexuality, who is under intense scrutiny of people who think themselves mightier than those around them. It just takes a small bit of effort on everyone’s part; discrimination is not just one person’s problem; it is all of our problems. To fix it, we must finally mend these bridges and come together. Firstly, the hatred towards genders is one that has been deeply rooted in our society for a long time. There is not just hatred towards men and there’s not just hatred towards women: both genders face equal oppression from the same sex and the opposite sex. The simple fix to this is to realize one thing: no sex is superior. If men and women alike just came together, got along, and melded instead of clashed, gave each other equal chances in everything, the gender issue could be fixed in a matter of a few short years, maybe even a few long …show more content…
Christians to Hindus, Muslims to Jewish people, even Atheists and Agnostic people alike suffer from this. Religion has been the basis for many wars, for many historical events, and it seems this trait of religion still rains true today. The whole foundation of this type of intolerance is simply people believing they are right in their belief, and then, in turn, telling- sometimes forcing- their belief on someone else. Even though Atheism and Agnosticism aren’t actually religions, but more of beliefs, they seem to get the worst end of the stick as every religion sees them as unnatural; the way some people who believe in a type of deity see it, other religions may be wrong but at least they have a god where as these two beliefs have nothing. Some people don’t understand it, which fuels their anger or fear for it. Misunderstandings, anger, fear, self-righteousness, feeling of being superior, all these feelings and more fuel religious intolerance. It’s a bit ironic, as almost all religions teach people acceptance, tolerance, and love, meaning for them to always try to help each other and guide each other to the correct path while still giving them enough room to still have some type of free will. Even with this, religious hate, on both the believing and non-believing sides, still exists. Again, the simple fix to this?
