Why Some Important Lessons Teach Me

Superior Essays
From the moment we are born we begin to learn important lessons teach us. These lessons are essential in helping to shape our character, and ultimately lead to who we become. Everybody has had that moment when someone, or even possible something, has taught you a valuable lesson that you will never forget. I know that I’ve had a multitude of them, but most of them I can’t remember the specific situation that transpired to teach me the lesson. For example, I can’t remember the first time that I touched a hot stove and realized that I probably shouldn’t do that. One lesson that was taught to me that I can remember quite vividly is when I first came to Gilbert Christian High School. From the time I was a little boy I have always gone to a public school. This being from kindergarten to eighth grade. Even …show more content…
To combat this I sort of goofed off and made just likes I stated earlier. However, this all changed when I went to Gilbert Christian. I was new to the school and I didn’t know anyone at the school at all. Everybody sort of already knew each other due to the fact that they went to the middle school together or through church. So still, I was a little scared to show my faith because I didn’t know how the other students would react, which is silly because we go to a Christian school. Luckily that all changed in my very first chapel …show more content…
No matter the situation, whether it be that you’re surrounded by nonbelievers or you’re doing something you don’t necessarily enjoy (singing), you shouldn’t be afraid or embarrassed to express your faith and acknowledge Jesus. Why should you not acknowledge and show your love for Christ when he gave everything he had for you. That’s not something to be embarrassed about or ashamed. It is something that you should take pride in and be honored that God gave up his only son for

In the novel A Lesson before Dying, they mention a few of these lessons. However, the most important lesson one must learn before they die, is how to be human. This is demonstrated in the novel by the characters Grant Wiggins, the protagonist, Vivian Baptiste, Grant’s girlfriend, and Jefferson, the innocent “hog” convicted of murder and sentenced to death. It is through these character that we most clearly see what it means to be human, and why it is such an important lesson to learn. However, maybe it isn’t so much learning to be human, but making others see it too.…

In the stories “The Lesson” by Toni Cade Bambara, and “The Struggle to be an All American Girl” by Elizabeth Wong, and the poem “Indian Boarding School: The Runaways” by Louise Erdrich, each of the writers focus on the positive and negative aspects of education. While part of the setting for Louise Erdrich’s poem and Elizabeth Wong’s story take place inside an actual school, the setting for Toni Cade Bambara’s story doesn’t take place inside a school; however, for all three stories, the characters in them are taught very important lessons. When I think about the three readings it reminds me that we have important lessons in our life that we have to learn from. Everyone has a lesson they have to learn in life no matter what it is…

I can truly remember a lot of school events and encounters that assisted and helped me to achieve and or what helped me to develop my education goals and what helped produce who I am today as a person. The teachers attitude towards me and the materials presented. Also the love that the teachers showed in making sure that I understood and applied the material that I supposed to gain are elements that influence my education and my life today. The superlative significance lesson that I learned is to never give up on a student and my children and for me to do all that I know and can do for my students and children. Our textbook states that “ Clearly, the types of nonparental experiences that children have with other adults influence not only…

It was a whole new church that my family was just attending while we were passing through the area, in all honesty I probably only attended five churches in my life prior, due to the fact that my family travelled so vigorously. This being said I wasn’t very holy I just kinda went because due to my age I ended up playing games most the time, never really having to be preached too. This church was contrastive than the prior experiences I was exposed to because I had to go to the main service area with my mother and father. To be blunt this was my first formal introduction to “my lord.” It began with singing, which I even had to endure at the children's ministry, but then came the hour and a half of my first meeting with who this man people always talked about really was.…

Public schooling has been around for hundreds of years, when the first public school was founded in Boston in 1821. There has been a massive change in how children were taught. Prior to this change, the only available schooling was from private schools. This meant that only children of rich families could normally afford this type of education. Yet, with public schools beginning to pop up across the the country, they soon outnumbered the amount of private schools the U.S had.…

At 38 degrees latitude north and 92 longitude west, lies the rural farming town of California, Missouri. This town is rich in cornfields, small businesses, and many churches of all denominations. From the quiet fields, to the busy town square this city is home to 4,341 people. What I believe makes California stand out from the other towns is that it has the “oldest continuously operating fair west of the Mississippi” (Kunze). But the thing that impacts me most about this town is the California High School, it’s staff, and the students.…

After arriving to Wood Middle School as I would on any other day, I walked into the bustling commons area and noticed a herd of students scattered into their separate cliques. However, what immediately caught my eye was the number of teachers and administrators who clearly looked flustered and distressed. I soon left the commons area and headed towards the library to figure what exactly was going on. Sure enough, there was a cluster of teachers gazing at the library’s television in utter disbelief over what would soon become known as “The Stock Market Crash of 2008”. Even though I was only in the 6th grade, I still had enough competence to realize that this was not an ordinary day in the stock market.…

At the rightful age of thirteen and three days, I learned of the fine line between what was and was not important in life. My home was a wind gust and a dirt road away from being burned down all while the next three years of my life were waiting two miles away. A view seldom seen until then but everyone knew exactly what it was from and where it originated.…

There are many lessons to be learned in life, lessons which are learned through conversations, mishaps, and great experiences. One experience I had was a little bit of all three. It was a conversation, started wrong, but nevertheless ended up being a great experience in which I learned an important lesson, that there are times to give up, and times to not give up, and sometimes even though giving up might seem like the right option, not giving up can lead to great success. My senior year of High school was hectic. Not only did I have the stress that comes from school work, I also started working too, to hopefully get some experience, and also, have some change in my pocket.…
