In this essay I will be comparing the relationship between Lass and her master, Mr. Keller, to the relationship between God and humanity. I will first discuss Mr. Keller’s loving discipline for Lass. Then how God gives us freedom to choice Him or the world. Finally, what we should do when we are tempted by the things of the world.
One story In this book tells how Mr. Keller corrected Lass’s wrong doings. He would sometimes slap her or speak loudly to let her know if she was doing any wrong actions. When he would correct her she would crouch in solemn respect for her wrong action, sorry for doing it. Mr. Keller would not let the sadness loom over their close relationship too long, he would show her love by petting her and speaking loving words to her. Just like Lass we do many things wrong. Lass was tempted to chase the birds when she saw them, and many times she would give in to these exciting ventures. Often we as Christians use our energy for frivolous pleasures. If Lass had come to her master, he could have allured her and helped her not to engaging in this wasteful activity. It is the same for us, if we go to Jesus Christ for help right when we are tempted, He will give us victory. 1 Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” In the book, Lessons From a Sheepdog, we have found that we should go to Christ when we are tempted and he will give us the victory. Also, how love equals choice and God is love so God gives choice. Whether we eat God's word or not will determine where our loyalty will be; to the world or to Christ. We still feel the result of our sins and are convicted through the bible or by experiencing the fruits of sinful life. And, we have learned in 1 John 1:9 that if we confess He will cleanse us from all our
