What is the history lesson we will be learning this day in class today? We are going to talk about a year that helps start a large exchange between the Europeans and the new worlds across the Atlantic Ocean. Now if you are wondering what I am talking about, it is simple we are going to talk about some events that happened in the year fourteen ninety-two by a man we immortalize not only in history as the discoverer of America and have his own day in his name called Columbus’ day. All right, next in November from Cuba, Columbus learned about maize better known as corn then made the first recorded note about tobacco . However, the Pinta under Martin Alonso Pinzón separates from the fleet. Therefore, within the last month of the year Columbus found Hispaniola (El Espanola/Haiti), but the flagship, Santa Maria had sunk. Next day the first Spanish settlement in the new world by Columbus was called La Navidad (modern Môle-Saint-Nicolas). Second, from the events that happen one person played a large role within this year of fourteen ninety-two that lead to the creation of something called the Columbian exchange, and the name of this person is Christopher Columbus. Now let us get this event straight. Columbus did not make the exchange. This followed the explorer afterwards but thanks to his discoveries of new lands, foods, and people, the moving of goods and or people were a tad manageable.
