Throughout the year, I have been reading articles and watching videos of people achieving their dreams. Even though few dreams come true, it’s always worth the struggle. Not only because it teaches people their path in life and that it makes progress, but also because almost anything is achievable, if one tries hard enough. My first reason for believing dreams matter is that dreaming forms one’s path in life. Obviously, not everything is possible. It can and does keep one positive and hopeful. But in the end, their dreams may not be fulfilled. Only the few lucky names such as Selena Gomez achieve what they dream because they have money or because they are attractive. Thenceforth, some dreams are a waste of time. Such as in a book called Les Misérables It follows the lives of several dreamers such as Fantine, Eponine, and Marius and his friends. The book takes place in 1832 when France attempted to appoint another king. The people rebelled against this new monarchy after the hell they were all living in when King Louis XVI reigned over France. Women were forced to sell their bodies to have money to live and people were put in jail for years for stealing simple things such as bread. Many barricade battles took place at this time and about 800 hundred lay dead, piled up in the streets, after living horrid lives and dying after. What were their dreams worth? Many in Les Misérables died in battle or from sickness. They wanted money, they wanted love, they wanted something worth living for, they wanted food on their table, they wanted warm clothes, and they wanted a real job. All they got was starving nights, dirty clothes, sickness, and death. Although all these horrid things happens to thousands, millions weren’t forced to endure the tyranny of the spoiled and selfish French monarchy and
