Leprosy Reflection Paper

Our lesson this week starts off with a discussion about a very bad habit we have of not being thankful for the magnificent gift of salvation that we have received from Jesus Christ.
If we ever stop and think about being so ungrateful for the great gift of salvation that Jesus made available to us we can review a biblical account that will make us stop and think that we aren’t the only ones who have failed to thank Jesus for some wonderful gift he gave them.
Jesus gave ten men that He encountered while walking along a country road a gift whose immense value to them would have been worth more than a mountain of gold.
None of us could even imagine the terrible life that these ten men were forced to exist in daily.

It wasn’t until 1981 that a multiple drug treatment procedure was discovered that truly can successfully control this terrible disease.
Now with early diagnosis, leprosy can be treated and cured.
Patients who are being treated now for leprosy are not contagious, and they can lead a normal lifestyle.
As I sat working on this week’s lesson the thought came to me that this lesson is a prime example of what we should be pointing out to others.
Have you never heard the claims that all religions are the same or that Christianity is just a meanness fairy tale.
When Jesus met these ten lepers as He walked along this non-descript pathway; He saw a heard these ten men pleading with Him.
Don’t you think that obviously Jesus was well aware of how much the people of Israel would have feared and maybe even despised these ten diseased men?
I think Jesus was well aware of the fact society at every level in Israel considered all ten of these men to be unclean and untouchable?
The Israelites fear contact with these ten men so much that they had lost all compassion for

In the world today everyone believes in treating each other as equal as possible, but the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel portrays a time where this was not the case. The true power of dehumanization is displayed throughout the book. The story follows Elie’s journey as a Jew during the Holocaust, from his hometown of Sighet, Transylvania up to his liberation from a concentration camp in Buchenwald, Germany. Although Elie faced some of the worst the world has to offer; starvation, loneliness, and losing his family, perhaps what had the strongest impact on his life was the dehumanization he endured from the Germans. Contrary to many beliefs of dehumanization only having a minor impact on an individual, Elie Wiesel demonstrates the truth…

“Salvation” is a shocking deviation from the customary religious chronicles heard today. While the account is a provocation for some, it provides insight and understanding of the often invalidated feelings of doubt and deception to others. The majority of spiritual narratives tells of passionate restitutions with Christ, while Langston Hughes’ tale describes a vastly different testimony. Whereas most Christian disciples strive for honesty and integrity, pretenses fill “Salvation”. Deception is a huge theme in this essay; in fact, the first sentence is a lie.…

The first message I ever gave was here a couple of years ago, and it was also on Romans. And in that message, I explained what it meant when certain words are used to begin a passage. Romans 8:28 begins with the word “AND”. When a passage starts with the word “AND”, what it means is, that it’s a connection. It’s a connection between what he has been saying and what he's about to say.…

Patrick Lencioni’s book, “The Ideal Team Player”, is a book that places emphasis on the qualities of being a team player. In order to be recognized as a team player, one must possess three essential virtues including humbleness, hunger, and smart. In the beginning, the book includes the fable of a leader, CEO Jeff Shanely, who is in distressed need to save his uncle’s company by cracking the codes of virtues and rebuilding the organizational culture. In the beginning, Lencioni tells how a mythical company must come together as one to address its noxious workplace culture. Thus, it is open, that the feeble, hatred seems to attend up a resourceful purpose. It may be judged harshly by impersonal ethical standards, but equally long as the weak see it as being inextricably involved in the complicated technique of survival with dignity, it cannot easily be shifted. Jesus understood this principle. Consequently, what must have gone through Jesus mind when he observed the contemptuous disregard for the Jews by the Romans, whose force had closed in on…

The name Leprosy has historically negative connotations of unclean dread. Back when the disease was just a mystery, people with such disease were called “Lepers” and were shunned out of society and even put on “leper colonies” to be isolated from the general population (Kearns & Nash, 2016). In 1200 C.E. Europe Leprosy was so common that they even had multiple hospitals set up just for such patients. According to the Britannica Encyclopedia, legend has it that, members of Alexander the Great’s army fell ill to Leprosy when they invaded India in 4th century BCE where they carried it into the Middle East and the Mediterranean on their way back home.…
