Hooded figures,a crazy guy in the woods ,and people chasing each other. Leper is a side character who joins the army and is discharged because he is mentally insane. The novel and the movie both begin with a flashback and the mock trial takes place to find out who or what made Finny fall out of a tree. Blitzball is a game that is created by a student named Finny and is a game that has loose rules which is comprised of chasing a person with a ball and passing the ball if the carriers does not want it anymore.These people got to a school named Devon School during 1942-1943 while World War 2 was taking place. During this time teenagers were allowed to enlist in the army but teenagers would probably be drafted into the army at the age of eighteen.The story follows teenagers while they are the Devon school through their school life but mostly other activities .The differences between the novel “A Separate Peace” and the movie adaptation are Lepers actions after he was discharged,the content of the flashback in the beginning of each piece, and the creation of the game blitzball.

In the novel Finny and Gene did not want to play “badminton” but instead Finny created a game called “blitzball” which had loose rules including a rule called the “Lepellier Refusal”(Knowles 35,37,39).In the movie, the creation of blitzball is not seen as the only thing that is seen in the movie is the students playing the game in the grassy field next to the badminton courts ."What do we call it...blitzball" this shows the creation of the name blitzball in the movie which is different than in the novel(Yates 7:57). The students were thinking of a name to call the game they were about to play which is the same thing as creating the game.
