The Art of War was a book written by Sun Tzu in the fifth century to better equip china’s people with strategic power. The knowledge that people got out of the book was so important that its teachings are still relevant to this day, although not technically in the way that It was meant to be taken. Many people use what they learn from the Art of War in business strategies and in different application of their life. Sun Tzu was a brilliant leader and strategist to write such a great work, and his values can be seen amongst the text. Knowledge is one if not the most important value that we can take way from the text. If we know how to outsmart the enemy than there is a one hundred percent chance of winning the battle. A few things can be inferred from the knowledge the text gives us, because without facing these obstacles how does the general know how to overcome them. While the text is an outline on how to win, this does not mean that losing was not involved in the texts

Cartledge writes that information about the Peloponnesian wars is skewed by an Athenian viewpoint seeing as the major source on the wars come from Thucydides, an Athenian man himself, but nonetheless concedes that he is a vital source on the subject. The Peloponnesian wars are an important turning point for Sparta in their struggle to maintain their impressive appearance to the other Greek poleis.
