Leonhard Euler Research Paper

Leonhard Euler lived form 1707-1783. During his life time he published eight hundred sixty six pages and books to only be surpassed by Paul Erdos later on. His complete work is ninety volumes. Remarkably, most of his outputs were from his last two decades of being alive while his completely blind (www.usna.edu). His most famous contributions to the world of mathematics was his equation or better known as the Leonhard equation which is V+R-L=1. Where V is equal tothe number of vertices (nodes) in the network, R is equal to the number of lines that are in the network, and L is equal to the number of regions that are within the network (www.amt.edu.au). Leonhard Euler was grate a mathution. His equations are widely accepted around the world. Yet one of his equations was not accepted until a few years after his death and the equation is known as no other than "Leonhard formula"(www.usna.edu). The formula is written as so V-F+E=2. Where in this case the formula is describing the three dimensional shapes. V in this case is equal to the number of vertices, E is equal to the number of edges that are present, and F is the number of faces on the shape (people.math.osu.edu). …show more content…
The square pyramid has five faces, which is the F, eight edges, which is E, and five vertices, which is V. As it written in the formula it should equal two and it does.
