One reason why highly paid soccer professionals should have lower wages is team performance is damaged if some athletes have higher pay than others. Allesandro
Bucciol et al. studied two teams in Italy to discover if pay dispersion had an affect on the performance of a consistent, eleven-man roster. He found that unequal pay distribution can decrease the chances of winning by twenty percent each match. In other words, the team will be more likely to fail after contracting this one very highly paid player.
Proponents of paying high salaries argue that such high salaries are intended to compensate for certain expertise skill levels, and that these players are worth such a high salary. However, soccer is a team sport. Even though there is one extremely talented player, all team members must work together cooperatively by passing the ball and following through with a play in order to score a goal. Having a highly paid talented player is in fact hurting their chances of winning instead of helping.
In addition to winning fewer games, another reason why highly paid athletes should receive less money is high wages lead to expensive games and loss of

For example some of the best players can rake in about $200,000 and get paid nothing of it. That just isn’t right to do that because they are out there sacrificing their bodies for their school, and then they don’t get a share of the revenue they work for. While on the other hand some coaches can get paid from nearly a million dollars, to nearly 2 million dollars. Sure the coaches are the main thing that makes a team good, but you need players to make up a team and with no players you are just wasting money on a coach that isn’t…

In Bill Simmons’ recent article entitled LeBron is Still Painting his Masterpiece, Simmons argues that LeBron James’ legacy is far from its inevitable twilight. To help achieve a better understanding of how comparable professional athletes are in their respective sports, looking at the top 100 earners in each sport will help. The MLB dominates other sports in average salary for the top 100 earners with 16.4 million dollars. Although the MLB has the highest average salary for the top 100 earners in the sport, they are being undervalued. “On average, teams are undervaluing players by 357,836.64” (Pearce). Since athletes in baseball seem to make the most on average, franchises can get away with not paying an athlete what they are actually worth.…

The average salary of a professional NBA player is about 5.15 million dollars. When one takes this massive amount of dough and compares it to the average salary of a middle class citizen, which ranges from 42,000 dollars to 125,000 dollars, one would notice that the NBA player makes substantially more than the average citizen. Professional athletes should have smaller salaries because jobs that save lives get payed way less, ---, and the money they are getting could be used to help the community. When looking at the paychecks of athletes and the paychecks of people in the military or people who are doctors, you would realize, the athlete gets more money. This is completely and utterly absurd.…

Many people may or may not believe players are valuable enough to pay them. College players definitely do enough to get paid considering they are the reason most of the time that the team wins. Jared Walch went to the University of Utah and is a writer for USA Today and he writes how sometimes athletes deserve to be paid because of their contribution to their programs (Walch). Players choose to go to a school over other schools because they enjoy that school and want to see that team succeed not any other team, so they work hard to try and win games for their team. Jared Walch who is also a writer for the Daily Utah Chronicles writes on USA Today that performance does not guarantee a paycheck, so just because someone is good does not mean they should be paid big bucks (Walch).…

Major League Profits Do you deserve to receive the money that you are responsible for earning? The majority (if not all) people would answer “yes.” This concept applies to the athletes inside the professional sports world. I've always wondered why entertainers and athletes get paid more than doctors, lawyers, military personnel, etc. I disagree, I think that people who actually make an impact on our country should get a higher salary than people who just entertain us. I think it is unfair for military personnel and doctors to get paid only 30 to 60 thousand a year while actors and actresses get paid 300 thousand a year. I will explain a bit more in the next few paragraphs. The first reason I disagree is because the people that keep us safe and make sure we are healthy are paid very little while actors, singers, etc get a bigger annual salary just to act in a movie or sing one song.…

“People complain that professional athletes get paid too much, but what they don’t understand is that we need a lot of money because we spend a lot of money,” is a quote from Patrick Ewing, a famous NBA star. His quote directly shows that athletes are being paid too much. For example athletes get paid a great deal more than the working class. They also get paid way more than surgeons, who save lives. There are also orphanages who barely make enough money to keep the kids safe.…

The main truth for that to happen is unfair, because there are many young talented players that should get paid money, but not overpaid. The owners for the soccer teams should just save their money and invest into bigger things and opportunities. Instead, the coaches just waste their money just paying one big star of their team. If the owners or coaches of the teams would just save their money, they would have lots of opportunities to do with that money.…
