Leonardo Museum Research Paper

The Louvre Museum had one of the biggest art collections. It is the home of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. These two are from the bucket list of must see places. After the cultural experience, we went to do some shopping. Every main street is occupied by famous brand designers. The “crème de la crème”. Shopping in Paris is not a wise idea if you are on a limited budget, as I found stores very pricey. I went to buy a baby doll for my daughter, while not a fancy one, the cost was a fortune. At the end of the day my peers and I had a well-deserved dinner together and went back to the hotel to pack and get ready for the trip back home to Chicago.

The State Art Museum of Florida, known as The Ringling , was once owned by one of the wealthiest men of the Roaring twenties, John Ringling. This museum is located in Sarasota, Florida and houses some of the most prominent works of art representing the culture and time of Europe back then and still continues to grow to this day. It opened it doors to the public in 1931, which was two years after the death of John’s wife Mable, hoping it would “promote education and art appreciation, especially among our young people.” John Ringling owned and operated a circus with four of his six brothers and it’s name was the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus. While he gained great success with the circus he developed a voracious passion for…

This paper will be describing and critiquing the Japanese art galleries in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Beginning their collection in the 1880s, the Met now carries an extensive compilation of the Japanese arts. With over 200 works of various compositions including folding screens, ceramics, scrolls, and clothing, this ten-room exhibit explores ancient Japan to the 21st century. Housed in the Eastern Asian section of the Met, the Japanese installation is nestled in a very long but smaller gallery, in comparison to the larger ones of this museum. Upon entering the gallery from the American wing, the visitor is greeted with a small dimly lit room.…

In Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks he talked about the difference that light and dark would make on the human eye. He noticed that human eyes would change in the sun verses the way they would look in the dark, their pupils would dilate, or contract. Since he did art work he wanted to get the pupils correct when he would do a picture so he did an experiment using a candle held above a person when they looked at a star, then slowly the candle was lowered while still watching the star to see what would happen. (I am assuming that he used someone else to do the experiment on, sorry if I am wrong but they were notes to himself so I don't know for sure.) I like learning about him and other artists because I love to do art so like the “google scholar”…

The Smithsonian Museum is made up of nineteen museums spread out over an area in Washington DC. My favorite museum of all that we visited was the Air and Space Museum. Then my next favorite museum was the Udvar-Hadzy Center. At the Udvar-Hadzy Center it costed six dollars to take a test flight in a plane, which I found really outrageous because it was six dollars for a test flight for like five minutes. Although overall it was a really cool place to visit and I was blown away by how big some of the planes were.…

When something unexpected to me, was when me, my dad, and uncle Steve weren’t allowed on the plane. I have no idea why we weren’t allowed on the plane, when the plane was sitting right in front of us and it wasn’t leaving for 10 minutes. The airport service worker said that we would have to get on the next flight to Denver in three hours. We couldn’t go back to Washington, D.C. because the airport was 30 minutes out of the city, and we didn’t want to be stuck in D.C for another couple hours. While sitting at the airport waiting for our next flight, we walked around and looked at the shops that they had in there.…

When I went to the Smithsonian Human Origins Exhibit, it made me realize how much more I am informed about human evolution compared to most of the people at the exhibit. One thing was I saw on one the displays that Neanderthals were classified as part of the Homo sapiens lineage, which is not true. During our lecture you already told us that Neanderthals are not part of the lineage. Neanderthals are consider more like sisters than one of us. Also one of the speakers was saying how Homo heidelbergensis were 99.9% closely related to us, which is also false.…

Have a quick breakfast at the hotel and then take a walking tour by a sight-seeing tour company. The tour is expected to take us along popular routes and attraction Paris has to offer. Some of the places of interests to visit include but not limited to Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Louvre museum, palace of Versailles, Moulin Rouge, Disneyland Paris, Cruise on the Seine etc. These are the typical or rather popular tourist attractions that you would visit in company. These landmarks have some intricacies about them and they are not anywhere close to the things we in a very commercialized and urban city like Lagos, Nigeria.…
