Leonardo Dicaprio Foundation Analysis

The Leonardo Dicaprio Foundation (LDF) was founded in 1998. The mission of the Dicaprio Foundation is to “protect the world’s last wild places ”. They do so through six avenues: Wildland Conservation, Oceans Conservation, Climate Change, Indigenous Rights, Transforming California, and Innovative Solutions. Through fundraising, LDF has successfully been able to make grants and support other projects with their same mission in mind worldwide. Through Leonardo’s personal social media, his supporters equally support his endeavors of LDF. Mr. Dicaprio has given much of his time and effort and works as tirelessly on his foundation, as he does on his personal career. Through his personal platform, LDF was created. A lot of other celebrities form foundations for causes that they believe in, but never really get hands on about it. Leonardo DiCaprio gets as hands on as he possibly can, including with his own filmmaking. The movie “The Revenant” was filmed during a certain period of the year during which it was cold enough to make the movie in such a difficult place as Argentina. Although some was filmed in Canada, this was when it wasn’t cold enough to continue filming in Argentina. He won his first academy award for this movie, and upon receiving his award he said “climate change is a real problem that we must face ourselves if we want to continue to thrive on this planet we call home”. By using his platform that he was given, he was able to shed a light on a preexisting problem that many of us sometimes choose not to acknowledge. I assess LDF’s value very high and I believe that they do many good works within our own country, as well as throughout
