Curiosity can be an incredible tool to propel an individual to heights they have never known. Leonardo Da Vinci was probably the most curious person to have ever lived, and look at how amazing he was. Having an interest in the unknown will build courage as long as it is followed by action. Being generally curious opens up opportunities to learn and build new skills.
However, there is a dark side to being innately curious. Curiosity can also put you in harm's way.

Agreeing to these terms I didn’t realize my curious nature would not be so compliant. Watching the movie, “It”, there came a particular part that my parents told me to close my eyes. I put my hands over my two eyes as the scene was unfolding, however my ears were not covered and my curiosity forced my fingers to open up and allow my eyes to experience what my ears were. That scene of the clown underneath the bed haunted my nightmares for many years after that. I still have a skeptical feeling towards clowns to this day. This is an example of how being curious can potentially harm your peace of mind by exposing you to something you may not be ready for.
To wrap up, being curious is a natural part of human nature. It can unlock many doors to learning and development. Curiosity is at the base and beginning of all skill building and acquisition of knowledge. Also courage is a product of a naturally curious mind. With those things being said there is also a negative side to being curious. “Commentary” Response “Commentary” is an article written and presented by Ben Stein, a comedian who doubles as a political and cultural activist. This article was written specifically to discuss the issues in today’s Western culture concerning religion and the way it is perceived by the general population. Stein seeks to defend religion in the face of an endless torrent of unacceptance and blame from society, and tries his best to convey his message for change to the audience. Ever since the beginning of recorded history, humans have shown a natural instinct to learn. Many people presume that courage is simply a person who accomplishes a grand feat rather than having the quality of mind that enables a person to face difficulty or danger without fear. However, true courage depends on the eyes of the beholder. Courage is many things. Slyly embodied in both reticent and vital characters, Harper Lee in To Kill a Mockingbird and Reginald Rose in 12 Angry Men both create a broad representation of courage. In both works of literature, the idea of courage that is being conveyed is the ability to do something that one knows is right or gracious, even though it is extremely difficult.…

The complex nature of discovery means that each uncovering can be confronting and provocative. Many individuals find that discoveries result from an unprecedented natural event or an inspired reappraising one’s inner and outer surroundings. Shakespeare’s 1611 play The Tempest explores the dynamics between the significance of new knowledge and how certain experiences become catalysts for the ultimate themes of the play: reconciliation and forgiveness. Similarly, Joel Schumacher’s 1990 movie Flatliners uses a supernatural theme, structure and cinematic special effects to demonstrate how while ideas of discovery vary, each experience is a potent undertaking, intimately related to new perceptions of ourselves and our relationships with others.…

According to ACT, "75 percent of American students who do achieve a high school diploma are not ready for college coursework and often need remedial classes at both the university and community college levels.” (Tennessee's Community College) College commonly looks for SAT scores and GPAs above all else to determine if the student should be considered. Colleges should instead look for more useful traits that make students better for college and the workforce. In Patrick Sullivan's article, Essential Habits of Mind for College Readiness, Sullivan thinks that curiosity/openness, creativity, accountability, humility, and grit are "more vital to college success than, SAT scores or recommended high school course sequences. "Also, I will be shedding my opinion from a college freshman point of view.…

"So this is White Pines," my nephew grinned, his dark brown eyes darted here and there as he took in the scene before him. "This is it," I answered, wishing I could crawl inside his head and see his first impressions of our simple mountain home. Deep inside I believed curiosity had been the impetus behind my nephew's visit. Had we lived a "normal" life, I'm not so sure he would have ever made the trip, especially by himself. We felt honored that my nephew had come all the way across the country for a visit and intended on giving him exactly what he'd requested: an authentic, "White Pines" experience, crazy or not.…

Leonardo da Vinci was intellectually well-rounded and produced masterpieces of art, scientific investigation, and architecture throughout his long life. “Learning never exhausts the mind.” These are some of the wise words of Leonardo da Vinci. This particular quote personally stands out to me because da Vinci never let up on learning until the day he died, he just always kept it up. This love of learning, consequently, cultivated his fascination and close studies of the human anatomy.…

Despite the infinite volume of questions one could ask, it becomes hard to come up with a question interesting enough to pursue beyond a few google searched answers. With information so easily accessible, hunting for answers isn’t always very difficult and yet, when prompted to answer them, sometimes we still draw blanks. During tests, people can get stuck on problems they have answered a million times or spend hours trying to find the right words to start an essay.…
