Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian Renaissance Polymath with a lot of different interests. Some of these interests included: invention, painting, architecture, science, mathematics, music, engineering, anatomy, history, and botany. Leonardo da Vinci is primarily known as a painter, and some of his most famous paintings included the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. He was born on April 15, 1452 in Anchiano. Anchiano is located in central Italy. Leonardo da Vinci was very interested in Anatomy, and that is how he got involved in healthcare. He was curious about the human body and how it worked, so he did a numerous amount of dissections on humans. Leonard da Vinci was the first person to draw an actual depiction of the thyroid, and because of that, people learned that the thyroid gland was actually an organ in the body. Leonardo da Vinci had many contributions to the healthcare industry, and it has a very big impact on healthcare today. These contributions include: the surgical robot, artificial limbs and synthetic organs, and contact lenses. One of the most famous robots that Leonardo da Vinci designed was called Leonardo’s Robot. This robot was designed to wave its arms, stand, sit, and raise its visor through pulleys and mechanics. Although Leonardo himself did not make the robot himself, his drawings in his notebooks gave people knowledge on how to construct it themselves. Because making the robot was successful, it gave people knowledge that Leonardo had a full understanding of the human body and how it worked. This robot impacts healthcare today because it has increased the surgical precision of a doctor, it has minimized incision size, it has lessened the risk of transfusion, it gives people shortened recovery time, and
