Leonardo Da Vinci Research Paper

Humanities – Art Research Paper Leonardo Da Vinci, writer, mathematician, inventor, and artist during the time of the Italian Renaissance. Born April 15, 1452 in Vinci, Italy, Da Vinci became interested with art at a young age. As a child he was sent by his father to become an apprentice to his good friend the painter and sculptor Andrea Del Verrocchio. By the time he was only 20 years old he was considered a master artist. Da Vinci’s first painting took him 3 years to complete, it is known as the Baptism of Christ. This specific work it made with oil paints on wood. Da Vinci would have been only 23 when he completed this painting. Growing up Leonardo lived with his father, his grandparents, his uncle and his father’s new wife since his old wife, Leonardo’s mother, had died. The new girl who his father had married named Albiera was only 16 at the time; she died young but loved Leonardo and took very good care of him in the time that she had. Not a lot is known about Da Vinci’s childhood, but what is for sure is that he grew up living with his father for most of his life. Later in his lifetime he speaks of only two incidents. The first which he calls “an omen” where a kite dropped from the sky above his cradle and the feathers of the kite brushed his face. The Mona Lisa is a painting of the wife of Francesco Del Giocondo being painted in oil on a white canvice. On August 21st 1911 the Mona Lisa painting was stolen from the museum where it had hung for the past five years. When checked with the guards they said that the painting was giving to the museums photographer to be photographed for marketing purposes.
