Leonardo da Vinci is a man, who to this day, influences the future. Leonardo da Vinci was a Florentine artist and one of the great masters of the High Renaissance; he is celebrated as a painter, a sculptor, an architect, an engineer, and a scientist. Leonardo da Vinci is considered one of the most influential people of all time. Leonardo da Vinci set a course for future artists, scientists, and engineers. Mr. da Vinci was a true genius that excelled in everything he did and “whose paintings influenced the course of Italian art for more than a century after his death” (Funk 1). “Leonardo’s mastery of drawing and pictorial mood ranks him as one of the greatest painters ever to live” (Bishop 207).
“Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in the small Tuscan town of Vinci, near Florence” (Funk 2). Mr. da Vinci “was the son of a wealthy notary and a peasant woman” (Funk 2). Mr. da Vinci spent his early childhood in Florence, where he received the best education (Funk 2). Around 1466, Leonardo da Vinci became the apprentice of Andrea del Verrocchio, who was the leading painter and sculptor in Florence of the day (Funk 2). According to Funk, da Vinci was introduced to many activities in Verrocchio’s workshop (2). Mr. da Vinci would paint altarpieces and make sculptures out of bronze and marble. Around 1482, Leonardo da Vinci moved to Milan and worked for the duke of Milan. Mr. da Vinci also became an instructor at the Milanese academy.…
