Leonard Peacock’s Suicide and Murder Attempt

It was Friday the 17th of August. It was Leonard Peacock’s birthday, and what he thought was his and Asher Beal’s last day. Last Friday, Leonard attempted to kill his excited-best friend and himself. Throughout the day, Leonard presented gifts to the four people that were closest to his heart. Before heading out, he chopped his long dirty blonde hair, so that you could have seen his scalp.

First was his neighbor Walt. Walt was a Humphrey Bogart fan. Leonard and Walt would spend hours watching his movies. They knew the lines of every movie by heart. One warning sign for suicide is major physical changes. Leonard had cut his hair that he'd been growing ever since the govern,net came for his father. Another telltale sign was that Leonard was giving away parting gifts. He was giving away prized possessions of his, his grandfather's medal and his college fund. This is another sign that Leonard was considering suicide. The final sign was when Leonard was in class. He had asked about what should happen to a gun he possessed. If your friend shows any of the following warning signs, there is a high chance that they are suicidal.
If they are:
Talking about suicide
Signs of self-hate
Saying goodbye
Self-destructive behavior
Withdrawing from things
Feeling hopeless
If they are giving away prized possessions
Major physical changes
Past suicide attempts

If you know of someone who is suicidal there are do’s and don’ts. The best thing to do is to ask them if they are suicidal. If they are, ask them what makes them feel this way. Then, let them know that you are there for them. Finally, try to convince them to seek help. You don't want to compare their problems to anyone else's. Don't tell them that their death will hurt others. Most importantly, don’t promise to keep this to yourself. The first thing you should as a friend is to tell a trusted adult.
