Lenqueeshiaah: A Short Story

Lenqueeshiaah was coming back from a cheer tournament with a shiny 1st place trophy in her hand. She lived in California and loved surfing and doing cheer. Lenqueeshiaah always won first place and was good at just about everything. When they pulled up into her driveway she saw her neighbor, Cornelia, get out of her car. She was holding a dull second place trophy just like always. “Good job today!” Lenqueeshiaah’s mom, Rach Ella, exclaimed when she got inside.

“Thanks mom, do you think you can come next time?” Asked Lenqueeshiaah. Her mom was really busy and never got to see her competitions. Although she could tell she tried from all of her 1st place medals and trophies.

“I don’t think so. I have a meeting during your next competition,”

She was about to walk past her when she realized she was signing up for something. The sign-up sheet read: help save the pandas. Cornelis rolled her eyes when Lenqueeshiaah signed up too.

After school she went the clubs first meeting. It was held in the spanish room because Mr. Daquan, the spanish teacher, was in charge of the club. Mr. Daquan was in his late thirties and had a fluffy beard. “Welcome to the first meeting!” exclaimed the excited spanish teacher. “Over the next two weeks we are going to be raising money to help save the pandas. You can work in groups or by yourselfs. The group or person that raises the most money will get to be in an article in the school newspaper.” When Lenqueeshiaah heard what Mr. Daquan said she knew she had to beat Cornelia.

The rest of class they spent making groups and brainstorming ideas on how to raise money. Lenqueeshiaah already knew she was going to work by herself. Although she could only think of one way to raise money. She snuck a peek at Cornelia’s paper. She had a bunch of ideas but the best was a carwash. When Cornelia saw her write it down she quickly turned her paper down and had a determined look on her
