Lennie's Dreams

We all have dreams but they don’t always come true “Of Mice and Men” is a story where this is partly true because not only does one dream not come true none of them do. The story “Of Mice and Men is a story where no dreams come true. Just a few examples of peoples whose dream didn’t come true Candy, Curley, Curley's Wife, George, and Lennie. I believe that Steinbeck was trying to show what the everyday life of a man and women was like during the during the depression and how no dreams ever came true, although he may have spruced up the story to make it more intriguing to the reader he also shows what the life of an average person was like during the depression. Finally, this dream was in his sights with Candy’s help they would own the farm in no time, but then it happened, Lennie had killed Curley’s Wife and that's when George's dream came crashing down, he wasn’t able to say “We're gonna buy a farm” anymore because there was no point without his best friend Lennie. Lennie had the smallest dream in the whole story all he wanted was to tend rabbits, but because of one mistake that wasn’t able to happen and because of this many other dreams had been given up on and or are gone. All that Lennie said was his dream was “ I gonna tend the rabbits and feed them alfalfa” but even that small dream was cut short because of Curley’s Wife the dream killer. This shows that even the smallest dreams didn’t come true during the great depression. Curley’s wife asked for a lot too much you could say and so her dream didn’t come true. Although she was the dream killer she too had a dream once her dream was to be a movie star in Hollywood but even her dream never came true. She tells Lennie “ I was going to be a movie star” but she got the opposite life she gets to live on a farm with tons of men, but not a single person to talk to ever she just has to keep her mouth shut and listen to what Curley has to
