Since the farm dream is dead they are going to have to work for a long time or just give up on the dream . Also the reason why the farm dream is dead is because crooks was telling Lennie and George that a lot of guys have had the same dream as Lennie and George but they never walked out with it. In the text “Of mice and men” it states that “every damn one of em’s got a little piece of land in his head. An never a god damn one of em’ ever gets it.” (ch 4). Crooks was setting an idea in their head that maybe they shouldn’t have that dream because a lot of people that have walked into the same farm that they are at have had the same dream but never got it. Another reason why the farm dream was dead was because Lennie killed the puppy that he was going to have at the farm. For example the article “Of mice and men” it explains “ Lennie sat in the hay and looked at a little puppy that lay in front of him.” (ch 5). Since what happened in weed it was easy to tell what was going to happen later on in the story. In the book “of mice and men” the book states what happens in weed “‘Jus’ wanted to feel that girl’s dress-jus’ wanted to pet it like it was a mouse.”’ (ch 1). Since Lennie likes soft things then that means that Lennie is going to like Curley’s wife’s hair. So when Curley’s wife tells Lennie to feel her soft hair he goes on and feels her hair said so in the text “of mice and men” “‘ feel right aroun there an’ see how soft it is.”’ (ch 5). Since Curley’s wife was telling Lennie to feel her hair the readers have an idea of what is going to happen since Lennie likes soft things but when he feels soft things he ends up killing them.
