Lennie Small Archetypes

Lennie Small: American Dreamer Lennie Small, who was one of the main characters from the novel, Of Mice and Men, is a perfect example of the American Dreamer archetype. The American Dreamer archetype is someone who is a frequent dreamer and spends a lot of his/her life working towards reaching the goal that they dream about. Why is Lennie Smalls someone who fits the American Dreamer archetype? He spends his life working for farm owners to earn money so that he can get a farm of his own and work for himself. I believe it is an interesting topic to study because Lennie is a special case. Although it is not specified what exactly the ailment is in the novel, it is apparent that Lennie suffers from some sort of mental retardation. His example of resilience and kindness through the injustices he faced were very noble. Also, Lennie was very misunderstood. Many didn't understand the ailment he suffered from and took advantage of him as well as generally mistreating him. John …show more content…
In the movie Warrior, brothers Brendan and Tommy had a strained relationship but came back to one another at the end of the movie. This is similar to George and Lennie because there were many times when George got irritated with Lennie but they still kept a good relationship. They could also be compared to Catniss and Prim from The Hunger Games. Catniss looked after Prim the same way George did Lennie. Also, there were stark contrasts what could be made as well. Lennie could be contrasted to the Joker because the Joker is cold and calculating while Lennie is kind and warm hearted. George and Lennie could also be contrasted to themselves (The Brothers Grimsby). While George is smart and cunning, Lennie is mentally challenged and completely reliant on George.
