The theme of John Steinbeck's novel "Of mice and Men" is that mankind can be extremely cruel and kind and sometimes both. So, when reading the novel, I concluded that Curly would be the extremely cruel character, Lennie would be the extremely kind character, and George is the mixture of both. Curly would be the cruel character because he hates Lennie because he crushed his hand and so he treats him with disrespect, but Lennie wanted to kill Lennie when he figured out that Lennie killed his wife. Lennie is a kind person because loves George and do what he says to not get in trouble and was even kind enough to politely listen to Crooks story. As for George he is kind but also sometimes cruel because he helps Lennie and cares for him but also
