Lennie And Carl A Narrative Fiction

Improved Essays
I clearly remember the day when I first met Lennie and Carla. I had just stepped onto the drylands of Auburn, Alamaba. It had been late in the afternoon almost eight o’clock.I had been travelling before but now I was back in my hometown. The house I was called to work on was an older building that had started falling apart slightly. Carla was the owner of the house. She was an older lady in her mid 70’s with grey tied back hair and a bright smile. She was a peteit lady standing at five feet with her old fragile body. “Hows it goin’ sunny?” Carla asked. Even when she talked it was full of love and affection. The smile on her face made the sentence even more warmer.
“Doin’ alright ma’am,” I replied. Carla welcomed me

The house itself had a lot of work yet to be done on it. You could tell just by looking at it, the house was falling apart. There were large dents in the flooring and the paint on the walls was starting to peel. “I know what you are thinking fella’, but the house ‘aint so bad, once you start working on it, it’ll start looking much better,” Carla said hopefully. This is why I had come to stay with Carla. I was suppose to help her rebuild her house and in return she would give me the basic living essentials. Carla showed me the room I would be stayin’ in and left to go check up on the food she had been cooking. I looked around the room. It was very plain which was understandable. Nowadays nobody had enough money to take care of their own family let alone a stranger. The furniture consisted of a bed, chair and cupboard all of which were made out of wood. There was a small window of the side of the room looking outwards to the neighbours backyard. I laid myself onto the bed and placed my belongings next to me. There was a cotton blanket which was at the end of the bed. I took the blanket and got myself cosy. “Bang” I opened my eyes slightly. What time was it? “Bang” I shot up quickly and looked out the window. The

This hardship was experienced personally by Brenda Roza as she realized that “there may not be that person next to you that's going to speak up for you”. There is no reason for strangers being malicious, to try to knock other people down when they’re not even known to you. Of Mice and Men essay I think that George and Lennie from Of Mice and Men have a better relationship than Romeo and Juliet because George protected Lennie on multiple occasions, George was able to find him and Lennie a job when it was hard to find open jobs, and George only killed Lennie because it was the most humane choice he had. My first reason is because George was able to find both of them a job, even though it was very hard to find a job and Lennie was mentally disabled. This is shown when George successfully gets them a job at the ranch even after being chased out of Weed after Lennie grabbed the girl's dress. That would have made finding a job difficult, however George was still able to get them a job even though he had to lie a bit. On pages 21 and 22, we see this when the boss asks about Lennie not being much of a talker.…

Behind the Attic Wall by Sylvia Cassedy is a novel told in third person point of view about a bratty, misunderstood orphan protagonist named Maggie who had been hopping from home to home, then goes through the conflict of living with her two overly prim and proper great-aunt antagonists Aunt Lillian and Aunt Harriet, setting being is a beautiful home in late 1800 England. Uncle Morris, a side character, is who took her to their residency and seemed to disappear right after that task. It made me a little sad since he was my favorite character, because he had a unique way of thinking and explaining. Maggie seems to have a very pessimistic view on everything, even more than I do. Because of this way of thinking, she thought the home was…

Wallpaper With a Thousand Words “The Yellow Wallpaper” is an important story, but digging has to be done to see so. The author Charlotte Perkins displays a feminist interpretation in an impressive way. Her use of metaphors brings out the true meaning behind this story. The wallpaper represents the way women are treated in our society, and the author tells a story of a “madwoman” to represent this overall theme. The house is the whole backbone to the story and is a one of the metaphors used.…

The definition of a home is where one dwells amongst their family members. In The House on Mango Street, Cisneros employ an exclusive motif of home which plays a crucial role in the advancement of Esperanza. Despite the fact that the two stories are totally different, it is still conceivable to draw parallels to each other. I think that this poem by Eric Hanson insinuates to how Esperanza is weary with her house and aspires to attain a new one. The lines “maybe it’s got some broken windows, and there are tear-stains on the floors” exhibits how the House on Mango Street is decrepit (da crip pit) and crummy.…
