Lemony Snicket's Poem

Improved Essays
Even though sometimes people bring us down sometimes, doesn’t mean everyone else will.Like Lemony Snicket once said “Deciding whether or not to trust someone is like deciding whether or not to climb a tree[...].”You choose what you do but of course we don't know what happens.“You might get a wonderful view from the highest branch,or you might simply get covered in sap[...].”People will sometimes break your trust, but that isn’t the same with everyone else will, besides it's worth it sometimes for the time.

We could either never believe or trust in other people, that will probably not be the same.Just because someone may have been unfaithful,we can’t just come to the conclusion that everyone else will be the same.“[...]Many people choose to spend their time alone and indoors, where it is harder to get a splinter.”As much as we want friends and people to care about, as much as we fear how much that person may treat us.Not everyone may be nice but like Lemony Snicket says “Just climb more trees”.Until you find the perfect one.

I agree with the statement, we can’t believe 100% to someone even to our best friends. There is an old latinese philosophy that says “Homo Homini Lupus” which means a man is a wolf to another man. This philosophy is an image of human nature. The wolf as a creature is thought, in this example, to have qualities of being predatory and cruel.…

kay, so now we know about timshel, but it's also Adam's last word before he dies (at least it wasn't something totally random like rosebud). He says it right after Lee gets him to give Cal his blessing, i.e. show that he loves him as a son and free him from the guilt of "killing" his brother. It's a moment where things are at a crossroads for Cal: he could go on hating himself for what he has done and thinking that his dad died hating his guts, or he can be free and go on to break the Cain-Abel curse that seems to follow the Trask family around. As Lee says to Adam, "Give him his chance"…

We pride ourselves in being the country that offers a fair go for all, the country that was built upon egalitarianism, opportunity and the hope of a better life, the country of mateship where multiculturalism and diversity is embraced. These values act as the cornerstones of the Australian identity as we know it, and placed Australia on the map for the rest of the world to see. However the mantra of acceptance does not hold true for all. Whether born in Australia with foreign heritage or recently migrated, some members of society still struggle to feel fully integrated within our community. Robbed of their own identity and the chance to contribute to Australia’s.…

The Privacy Chart activity we did in class made me realize how important it is to share important issue of my life with the right person. Each persona displayed in Shel Silverstein’s poem represents each social class evident in society today. Bob’s need to find social acceptance among the elite and powerful is symbolized by his suit. Jack’s rebuff of social acceptance is merely a worthless gesture belied by his purchase of expensive, yet hidden, shorts. Tom is a simple, poor, working man who cares not about social perceptions and statuses, but diligently seeks to satisfy his basic needs. Bob epitomizes the individual desiring to attain a higher socioeconomic status through highly commercialized products.…

“Forgive, but not forget” by John F. Kennedy. Being an introvert, my social diapason was small enough to become surrounded by just several friends. However, with the tiniest opportunity of making a new friend my friendship range was flexible enough: I became open to anybody. Once, I trusted my new-friend by sharing a secret. Subsequently, he told this to his friend, and his friend told his friend and so on.…

The poem, “For Mohammed Zeid of Gaza, Age 15,” which was written by Naomi Shihab Nye, is dedicated to Mohammed Zeid a fifteen year old boy who was killed by a “stray bullet” (Line 1). The first stanza provides illustrations and anthesis that underscore the harm of a bullet. For instance, Naomi Shihab Nye describes that “the bullet could not a pecan/ plunking the tin roof” (Line 6-7). Through the onomatopoeia of the “plunking,” she emphasizes the disregardable effect the pecan has on the tin roof. However, she describes that the “bullet could not be” something so ignorable, overlooked, and trivial.…

In today's era seeing that lies can easily flow from a people's mouth is very unsettling. When it comes to all types of relationships, whether it's with friends, family member, or your lover you must have a foundation. For most people, including myself, that foundation is trust. If you can't trust anyone, how can you move forward to the next step if you almost always have to look over your shoulder to make sure that nothing is going on that could hurt you in any way whether that's physically or mentally? It's nearly impossible because you then become a little paranoid, basically, a sitting duck waiting for what is coming to hurt you to do it already or trying to search for something that isn't there.…

Being told how amazing and special we are has been written in our brains since the day we were born by our parents. Although this perception of ourselves may lead to less anxiety or depression, it can also cause many different problems with our relationships with other people. One example from my own personal life comes to mind, which is when I was beginning to date at the age of only 13 years old, when I still dated females. This romantic and star-crossed lover relationship only lasted about 1 week. It ended dramatically with her telling me that I was rude and mean, slapping me, and storming off.…
