The Lego Company has made an amazing toy for all ages. The product that they made is called Lego Bricks. The Lego company started out in Billund Denmark. They didn’t actually make Lego Brick at first. They used to make wooden toys. In fact, it wasn’t even called “Lego.” It was called Ole Kirk Christiansen’s Workshop. Ole Kirk Christiansen was a carpenter who started a toy business in 1932. They eventually found a new name for the company called Lego coming from the Danish word, leg godt meaning “play well.” In 1947, lego buys a Plastic Injection Molding Machine for making toys. In 1955, they made the first 28 lego Sets. They then modified the Lego Brick to have three holes on the bottom so that they will stick together longer. The Lego Company …show more content…
Because of the small size of the Lego’s, it was a major choking hazard. So all kids can play with Lego’s, they designed the product Duplo which are bigger Lego Bricks that are safe for infants. In 1974, they created the first Lego Figures. These figures were rather big, blocky and not appealing to the eye. Four years later, they created the Lego Minifigure with no arms or legs and evolved into the Minifigures we know today. In 1977, they created Technic Lego Bricks that allow you to add more detail to the things that you make. They then started to make Lego sets that had different themes to them. There was a pirate Lego theme, a space Lego theme and a Medieval Times Lego theme. The Medieval Times Lego Castle was one of the largest Lego sets they have ever built. They soon started to make Lego Robots called Mindstorms which involved the Lego Technic Bricks. They kept making so many different kinds of Lego Bricks and sets, they fell into bankruptcy. To get out of bankruptcy, they paid Star Wars for rights to sell Lego products based on the Star Wars movie’s.
