Legislation and regulation regarding immigration into Canada have been major issue and a growing topic of discussion in recent years. Canada has a population of 33 million and has needed a large influx of immigrants to help support the workforce. With more skilled immigrants arriving to Canada, more would be able to contribute to the economy of Canada. In 2002, the number of immigrants was 229,000. In 2015, Canada has welcomed over 285,000 new citizens to live in Canada. Just last year in 2015 alone, with the election of the new Liberal Government, 25,000 Syrian refugees were forecasted to come into Canada, where like many others they came to this country in hopes of a better life. With regards to the Syrian Crisis, Canada has pledged more than $686 million dollars into the program to help those 25,000 Syrians. With 8000 Syrians getting privately sponsored and 14000 being government sponsored. However, with the increase intake in immigrants comes possible issues. Some issues could be the security of the citizens living in Canada, providing opportunities to immigrants, use of resources and capital to help fund immigrants and the issue of health and education, which are in provincial jurisdiction.

On the topic of immigration, I believe that all political parties of Canada would all have their own policies that would lead to different solutions. I believe that the NDP would want to have as many immigrants to move,live and work in Canada. Based on my knowledge of the…
